With Black History it’s personal for Robert F. Smith.
He started from humble roots in working-class Denver, Colorado in 1962 and attending the March on Washington as an infant. He ended up Founder, Chairman and CEO of Vista Equity Partners and recognized by Forbes as one of the 100 Greatest Living Business Minds in 2017 for his business acumen and leadership skills.
It’s fair to say that Smith has lived a lot of the recent history he presents and executive produces for as bite-sized topical content, in his video-audio podcast series Black History, in 2 minutes, which spans almost 40 episodes of curated insights on the Black experience across time and place in the US.

The dedication to promoting and preserving slices of history led to Smith accepting a 2020 2X Webby Award for best podcast documentary series from Be Woke with host Deray McKesson, a fellow civil rights activist for the Black Lives Matter movement.
The award recognizes Smith’s contribution to educating people on the African American experience.
