Robert F. Smith was recently honored by All Star Code, an education non-profit that aims to close the tech entrepreneurship gap by empowering young men of color to develop new skills and expand their network to build a career in technology.
Smith was recognized for his philanthropy and in particular his work as an ambassador to the organization, which includes participating in various activities like speaking at programs, hosting discussions, fundraising and providing strategic counsel to the organization.
He was honored during the organization’s 7th Annual Summer Benefit. The benefit raised nearly $660,000, which will be used to fund their summer education programs where the organization partners with companies like Google and AT&T to host a free six-week educational program that teaches skills like coding.
“Our future is bright, our students are majoring and minoring in computer science, attending prestigious universities like Stanford and Carnegie Mellon, and securing internships and full time employment in the tech sector,” said All Star Code Executive Director Danny Rojas. “What connects me to the mission of All Star Code is the community values, daring greatly, telling your unique story, and celebrating failure. Technology is connecting us.”
